Taiwan's VIA Telecom, China's CEC Telecom Team Up on CDMA Phones

Chinese mobile phone maker Qiao Xing Mobile Communication announced on August 13 that its subsidiary CEC Telecom has formed a strategic partnership with Taiwan's VIA Telecom on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phone development, according to news reports by Infotimes, Xinhua News, and Apple Daily. It is reported that VIA will provide chipsets for CEC Telecom's two CDMA mobile phones to be rolled out by year-end 2008. Furthermore, it is expected that the two companies will collaborate on bidding for the CDMA phone bundling deal with China Telecom.
